Prelim. Practice Schedule following Evaluation Week.
The first week (Aug 28-Sep 2) will allow players to get warmed up and "shake the rust off". Week 2 (Sept 6-9) will be evaluation week for 10U-18U. We use evaluations to balance teams and group kids of similar skill to maximize player development. These are not tryouts so no registered player will be cut from our program. We ask that players attend 2 practices per week, try their best, have fun and don't get caught up in their performance.
For 6u-8u, events will be 1-2 hours with multiple cross-ice games in each. They will mostly be at Orange County Sportsplex, Greensboro Ice House or Winston Salem Fairgrounds.
For 10u-18u, we partner with the Polar Hurricanes House League for the season, so most games will be in Wake County with some home games at Sportsplex.
Meet Your Coach Day On the afternoon of September 11, just following team selection announcements, the Hogs will host a "Meet Your Coach" event in the parking lot, behind Sportsplex. The Hogs board will briefly speak about our program and upcoming season. Then players and parents of each team can meet their coach. We will supply drinks and snacks. We will also have Hogs apparel on hand for purchase. More details to come, but please mark this event on your calendars.
In order to minimize cost, jersey cost is not included in registration. If your returning player has a set of Hogs jerseys that fit, then you're all set. For new players or those in need of a new set, the registration pages will guide you through purchasing new home and away Hogs jerseys. We are using a different vendor this season to reduce cost and turn-around time. Hockey socks are included and will be provided in September.
For questions on the correct jersey size, please contact Bud Johnson or Rita Bongarten. In addition, we'll soon have apparel for sale. (t shirts, hoodies, hats, etc.) Please look for communications later this month to get your latest Hogs Swag!
