2024-25 SEASON

Your Hillsborough Hogs are looking forward to another great season!  In our 45th year, our dedicated highly experienced team of over 30 USA Hockey Certified Coaches and dozens of volunteers are committed to providing a TOP-RATED youth hockey experience for your hockey player.

Registration will go through the Sportsplex DaySmart system.  Please follow the steps below and review all information to make the process as streamlined as possible:

1.  2024/25 USA Hockey Registration #:  This will be needed towards the end of the registration process.  Please use this link Register With USA Hockey

If you already have a 2024/25 #, use this link to retrieve What's My USAH#

2.  DaySmart Account:  If you do not already have a DaySmart account with Sportsplex, please create one here.

3.  DaySmart Profile:  After creating a profile as a parent/guardian, create a profile for each player that you will be registering for hockey.  Click on My Profile.  At the upper right, you should see Manage Family Accounts.  Click the link "Add family member" and complete a profile for each player.

4.  Hogs Registration:  Please use the links below for each age group.  As you go through the registration pages for each player, please review the following inputs with each registration before adding to your cart and checking out:

  • Be sure the correct family member is selected at the top.
  • For the Allergies and Medical Conditions question, just list what would be relevant to hockey.  We will request more detailed medical information at the beginning of the season with our "Consent To Treat" form.
  • All players must have a Hogs set of Home & Away jerseys which should last at least 2 seasons.  If your player needs a set, please select a quantity of 1 at the top of the registration page and then answer YES to the jersey question further down.  Both fields are required to initiate your order.  Please also note that the quantity should only be 0 or 1.  1 represents the set of home/away jerseys.
  • For jersey # preferences, please include three unique preferences.  We will work with families on a # of their preference, but cannot guarantee a specific one as some are already in use by an existing player.
  • Disregard the note about taxes below as they are already baked into the registration price.  At checkout, you will be able to apply the sibling discount code TYHSIB10.  The 10% discount should apply to all participating players provided they're registered together in the same cart.

Practices, Cost & Schedules

Practices will begin on Monday August 26th.  Times will vary a little from above during the first 2 weeks of the season.  During the week of Aug 26-30, players in each age group will practice and "skate the rust off".  During the week of Sep. 3-6, players in our 10U-14U will be evaluated for team placement.  These are NOT Tryouts.  No one gets cut.  Evaluations are simply to assess what is the best division that will give our hockey players the best learning environment and a fun season experience.

Other season information:

We will continue to use SportsEngine for rostering and team scheduling.   It's a free app. and easy to use.   We will have more information for new users in September.

In addition to on-ice practices, coaches may schedule off-ice training in the parking lot (weather pending) to work on conditioning, shooting and positioning.

We will be fielding tournament teams and participate in MyHockey Tournaments during the holidays and/or over Presidents Day weekend.

The Hogs will continue to host special events throughout the season including "Meet Your Coach" parties and our famous "Holiday Hootenanny"

Thank you for your continued support in our great organization!

The Hurricanes First Goal program is coming back to Orange County Sportsplex this summer, but time is running out to register for this summer's program

The Carolina Hurricanes First Goal Program is a league-wide initiative and partnership between the Carolina Hurricanes, the National Hockey League, and the National Hockey League Players' Association. The initiative provides first-time participants (boys and girls) aged 5-10 with hockey equipment and the opportunity to enjoy instructional hockey sessions. The 2024 program is sponsored by Invisalign, UNC Health, & Carolina Hurricanes forward,  #37 Andrei Svechnikov.

The six hourly sessions held at Orange County Sportsplex will be Sundays at 3:00pm on July 14th - August 18th.  In preparation for First Goal and the introduction to hockey skills, it is strongly recommend to complete a Learn to Skate program.

After completing the program, players are ready to join the  Hillsborough Hogs!

For more information and to register, please visit: Hurricanes First Goal

Mites Triple-Header Weekend

It was another full weekend for our Mites.  We had teams participating in Greensboro and  Winston Salem jamborees, while our girls joined the Lady Jr. Thunderbirds for a jamboree in Greenville, South Carolina!  Way to go Mites!

Congratulations Mighty Mites!

Our Mighty Mites took the ice during the intermissions of the Hurricanes vs. Blue Jackets game.  Great experience for all and what a 3rd period comeback by our Hurricanes!
