For families initially registered with Thunder Mites:
USA Hockey/CAHA's bi-laws limit travel organizations from running 8U Player Development programs if a house organization already offers one. Further, the players must first be registered with the house organization in order to participate. While the Hillsborough Hogs made minor changes to its 6U/8U offerings this season, we have offered a Player Development for over 5 years per the CAHA definition. We understand families desire to participate in the Sportsplex's Thunder Mites program and we led the efforts to arrive at a solution for both organizations. However, the proposal we presented to CAHA was denied as it was still in violation of their bi-laws. We encourage all families to contact CAHA for confirmation of their decision and hope all families have a safe and fun hockey season.
Check out this latest exhibit in our Orange County Historic Museum. The exhibit contains pictures and memorabilia of hockey, figure skating and other youth sports dating as far back as 100 years. You'll see leather football helmets, soapbox derby trophies, archery and the humble beginnings of TYH when we were a small youth hockey organization at Daniel Boone Ice Arena.
A huge thanks to Courtney Smith and Kristin Bedell for making this happen! Courtney is the Historic Museum's Special Exhibits Coordinator. Kristin, former TYH coach and our VP Mark's better half, approached Courtney last year about celebrating our 45th anniversary. This is what planted the seed that became this exhibit. A special thanks also to those who donated items for the exhibit.
