HILLSBOROUGH HOGS

2024-25 SEASON

Your Hillsborough Hogs are looking forward to another great season!  In our 45th year, our dedicated highly experienced team of over 30 USA Hockey Certified Coaches and dozens of volunteers are committed to providing a TOP-RATED youth hockey experience for your child.

Please see some helpful information below and feel free to contact a Hogs board member with any questions:

Registration will open later in June.  The Hogs and Orange County Sportsplex are partnering together to provide a seamless registration process through their Daysmart system.  If families don't already have a Daysmart account, you can create one at time of registration or before.  Visit Sportsplex's website and click register to create an account.  We will continue to use SportsEngine for team scheduling and other administrative tasks.

Practices will begin on Monday August 26th.  Times will vary a little from above during the first 2 weeks of the season.  During the week of Aug 26-30, players in each age group will practice and "skate the rust off".  During the week of Sep. 3-6, players in our 10U-14U will be evaluated for team placement.  These are NOT Tryouts.  No one gets cut.  Evaluations are simply to assess what is the best division that will give our hockey players the best learning environment and a fun season experience.

Other season information:

Parents may elect to purchase a premium set of Hogs Home/Away jerseys during registration.  More information and pricing will be provided later this month.

In addition to on-ice practices, coaches will schedule off-ice training in the parking lot (weather pending) to work on conditioning, shooting and positioning.

We will be fielding tournament teams and participate in MyHockey Tournaments during the holidays and/or over Presidents Day weekend.

The Hogs will continue to host special events throughout the season including "Meet Your Coach" parties and our famous "Holiday Hootenanny"

Thank you for your continued support in our great organization!

HURRICANES FIRST GOAL, SUMMER 2024

The Hurricanes First Goal program is coming back to Orange County Sportsplex this summer.

Registration is now OPEN!

The Carolina Hurricanes First Goal Program is a league-wide initiative and partnership between the Carolina Hurricanes, the National Hockey League, and the National Hockey League Players' Association. The initiative provides first-time participants (boys and girls) aged 5-10 with hockey equipment and the opportunity to enjoy instructional hockey sessions. The 2024 program is sponsored by Invisalign, UNC Health, & Carolina Hurricanes forward,  #37 Andrei Svechnikov.

The six hourly sessions held at Orange County Sportsplex will be Sundays at 3:00pm on July 14th - August 18th.  In preparation for First Goal and the introduction to hockey skills, it is strongly recommend to complete a Learn to Skate program.

After completing the program, players are ready to join the  Hillsborough Hogs!

RFP and TYHNC Joint Statement

To the Orange County Community,

The Hillsborough Hogs (Triangle Youth Hockey NC) and Recreation Factory Partners (RFP) are extremely pleased to announce that we have found a resolution for the Fall 2024/25 youth house hockey season and are fully committed to stand together to advance youth hockey at the Orange County Sportsplex.

Offering a successful youth hockey program in Orange County has always remained the main focal point. With help of a Mediator and the Orange County Manager’s office, Triangle Youth Hockey NC and Recreation Factory Partners collaboratively formulated a successful solution and agreement for the upcoming season; the on-ice product remains the same, but there will be some administrative changes. Both the Hillsborough Hogs and Recreation Factory Partners agreed to these changes. For additional details regarding our mutual plan for the fall 2024/25 house league hockey season, please visit either the Sportsplex Youth Hockey page or the Hillsborough Hogs website, as information will be posted shortly. For questions, feel free to reach out to the Sportsplex Management or to the Hillsborough Hogs Board.

The Hillsborough Hogs are playing next season, and we want the community to know that both the Hillsborough Hogs and Recreation Factory Partners intend to work together to grow youth house hockey, develop players, maintain affordability, and respect the long legacy of those that came before us to build the Hillsborough Hogs program and all of youth hockey at the Orange County Sportsplex.

Sincerely,
John Stock, CEO RFP
Tom Deis, TYHNC President
Andrew Stock, Sportsplex GM
Mark Bedell, TYHNC Vice President

Mites Triple-Header Weekend

It was another full weekend for our Mites.  We had teams participating in Greensboro and  Winston Salem jamborees, while our girls joined the Lady Jr. Thunderbirds for a jamboree in Greenville, South Carolina!  Way to go Mites!

Congratulations Mighty Mites!

Our Mighty Mites took the ice during the intermissions of the Hurricanes vs. Blue Jackets game.  Great experience for all and what a 3rd period comeback by our Hurricanes!
